Who is Sophie Okonedo? This London born actress has been taking Hollywood by storm. Many of us may remember her as the wife of hotelier Paul Rusesabagina in the critically acclaimed movie “Hotel Rwanda.” She played opposite Don Cheadle and was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress. Sophie Okonedo was also nominated for a Golden Globe for lead actress in Tsunami: The Aftermath.
Sophie Okonedo is considered to be one of the hottest actresses around today. Hollywood is buzzing about her two upcoming films, “The Secret Life of Bees and Skin.”
The Secret Life of Bees is based on Sue Monk Kidd’s bestselling novel and Skin is based on the true story of a black girl who was born to two white Afrikaner parents in South Africa during the apartheid era.
“The Secret Life of Bee” is set to hit theatres October 17, 2008. Sophie Okonedo will be starring alongside actresses Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning.
On a personal note Sophie Okonedo has a daughter, Aoife. She is from her previous relationship with Irish film editor Eoin Martin. They live in Muswell Hill, London.
