CBS Interview with Katie Couric and Sarah Palin

Have you actually seen the interview of Sarah Palin by Katie Couric of the CBS Nightly news? In this video excerpt Sarah Palin talks about Rick Davis, the government bailout proposal and John McCain. The only way you can make an informed decision about a candidate is if you actually hear what they have to say. This video is very enlightening. Watch it now!

Hip Hop Gone wrong with Kenly on Project Runway

Tonight’s challenge on Project Runway was to create a look based on a music genre. And the twist on Project Runway was that they would be designing an outfit for their fellow designers. And the designers would be doing their very own cat walk on the Project Runway.

At Mood, Project Runway’s favorite design store, Kenly picked out a floral print for the Hip Hop genre. I have never seen floral prints in Hip Hop. I thought Leanne’s suggestion of making her thuggish was stereotypical, but it was closer than what Kenly thought Hip Hop was.

At Tim Gunn’s check in after making a suggestion to Kenly about her Hip Hop design Tim thought she was being sarcastic and facetious with her responses. That was a Project Runway first.

In the Project Runway confessional Kenly said, “I can’t listen to Tim Gunn anymore because what does he know about Hip Hop.

As we soon shall see apparently Tim Gunn knew much more than she did. I think that’s why he’s the Project Runway mentor and not her.

Suede comments that he knows in his heart the judges will love his design. After being in the bottom the last three weeks on Project Runway, does Suede have a snowballs chance in hell? We shall see.

Now on the Project Runway Is where we hear some of the judges comments about the designers designs.
The judges said Corto was right on and Suede looked great in it. The consensus was the vest Suede designed was very cool. But that his design was missing a little more drama.

Jerell was told that his outfit looked great; Kenly was exposed but not too naked. It was very smart and sexy but not vulgar.

Kenly’s design had unflattering pants and it didn’t look Hip Hop. LL Cool J pointed out that it didn’t look like it was part of the Hip Hop culture.

Leanne made a wonderful choice of colors; it was fantastic. However, the look was subtle and needed a little more country.

Kenly once again was defensive after the judge’s critiques. Uttering she could have done better if she was given three days to do it. That wouldn’t be fair now would it Kenly?

This week’s winner was Corto and in one more week we will be down to the Project Runway final three so stay posted.
Finally Heidi got to say Auf wiedersehen to Suede.

Gas Gas Everywhere But Not A Drop to Pump

The gas crisis is hitting home for me. As I rode around today I witnessed two near car accidents because of long gas lines and the frustration of drivers. People were panicking and you could see the fear in their eyes.

I was perplexed because there was more traffic than usual today. It’s because all of us idiots were out there looking for gas.

While I was riding around like the other gas “zombies” out there I began to wonder about “What if” situations?

I thought, What if a police officer tried to pull me over while I was on my way home and I only had enough gas to go straight home and no where else. What would I do?

I’ll tell you what I would do. I would let that police officer follow me home with their blue lights flashing and their sirens blaring. After having called for back up there’s at least five squad cars following me. Remember O.J? All while a police helicopter hovers in the sky.

It wouldn’t bother me if after I parked my car in the driveway, with their weapons drawn they order me out of my car. Having tackled me onto my front lawn, they put my hands behind my back and slapped those plastic handcuffs on me. All of my neighbors are watching on their front lawns. And my children would be peeping at mommy through the blinds.

As the officers begin to haul me away one of them would ask, “Ma’am why didn’t you just pull over?”

And my reply would be, “With gas prices as high as it is. And now you can’t find any. I couldn’t afford to pull over. You know how you police officers take all day writing tickets. I could have run out of gas waiting on you. And the last thing I needed was to have my car stranded on the side of the road because I couldn’t pay for a tow truck that might charge me double because of the gas shortage.

You know officer I think I’ve mad the right decision. Gas sure can make you do some crazy things. I just hope we make it to the jailhouse before my mother sees me on the news.”

“And why is that ma’am?”

“Because she’s going to kick my ass for not outrunning you.”

Desperate Housewives Season 4 Available on DVD

In the fourth season of the DVD Desperate Housewives we begin with a brief recap of the previous season.

Gabrielle overheard Victor and his father saying that he made the right decision in marrying her because she will bring in the Latino vote. Gabby hurt by hearing this turns to Carlos. Susan and Mike finally made it down the aisle while Lanette found out that she has cancer. Bree arrived at Gabby’s wedding pregnant. And Eddie had climbed onto a chair and put a noose around her neck.

And that’s where season 4 DVD of Desperate Housewives picks up. Our four favorite housewives and Eddie are up to some crazy shenanigans as usual.

We have the revelation of Lanette’s cancer to the other housewives. One housewife loses a husband tragically, while ones husband battles a drug addiction. And one housewife is faking a pregnancy hoping not to be discovered.

We also have new neighbors on Wisteria lane. We have our very first gay couple and the much anticipated arrival of Dana Delany playing the character of Katherine Mayfair. Some of you may not know that originally Marc Cherry wanted Dana Delany for the role of Bree Van de Kamp. But due to other commitments she wasn’t able to accept the role.

I would just like to point out that things do happen for a reason. I don’t think anyone could have played the role of Bree better than Marcia Cross. It was a perfect match.

I also would like to mention that Gabrielle is one of the most hilarious characters on television. Evan Longoria-Parker should be nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Gabrielle Sollis.

In the season 4 DVD of Desperate Housewives a tornado hits Wisteria Lane. And we watch the housewives cope with the aftermath.

As always there is deception, betrayal, blackmail, and murder in this season of Desperate Housewives. But there is also love, friendship, loyalty, and overcoming obstacles as all women do but not before a few dirty little secrets are revealed.

So catch up with your favorite Housewives before season five premieres. Desperate Housewives Season 4 is currently available of DVD.

House Season 4 DVD Available Now

Before inserting the first DVD I wondered what the writers could do in this season of House to top the previous ones. And was that even possible? You know how some series start off with that fire and then the spark begins to wane. Would House grow stale and sizzle off?

Oh no, not House. I think this show just keeps getting better. Was this DVD worth its weight in gold? Yes it was. What can I say I love this mans wicked sense of humor.

As we left off in the previous season of House, Foreman had quit. House fired Chase and Cameron had resigned. So now House is without a team and his mandatory quest for replacements begins.

House hates the interviewing process and to Cuddy’s dismay he begins a “Survivor” like quest for his open positions.

The premise of searching for employees in the manner of elimination such as a reality TV show is ridiculous. But it works and it’s absolutely hilarious.

You may think House’s tactics are ludicrous. Crazy even, but I say crazy like a fox. His over the top antics are brilliant when you really think about it.

The fourth Season of House now out on DVD is filled with interesting medical mysteries along with a host of special guest stars. It will have you thoroughly entertained throughout this short but powerful season. With laughter, love, twists and turns with a bittersweet ending.

If you’re not watching House I don’t know what rock you’re living under.

This is on the most innovative, brilliantly written shows on television today. Not to mention the superb award winning acting of its lead character played by Hugh Laurie.

House Season 4 DVD is in stores now and available to rent at your local video store. Get out and pick up your copy of this DVD today.

To keep current with House this season it airs on the FOX network Tuesday nights this fall. And if you are new to House Seasons 1-3 are also available on DVD.

Project Runway College Grad Makeover Challenge

Coming off of last’s weeks Project Runway double elimination of Blayne and Terri things were a little tense at first.

This weeks Project Runway challenge was to do a makeover from head to toe of a recent college graduate transitioning into the workforce. The winning makeover and designer would appear in ELLE Magazine courtesy of Project Runway.

“Kenley can make one hell of a 50’s or 60’s dress, but that’s all she can serve up,” Jerell said, Which I have to totally agree with. Show us something different Kenley, please. I’m becoming bored with you as a designer. This is Project Runway girl start shining.

Tonight on Project Runway Kenley got very personal when she bashed Suede and his ability as a designer in the dorm room in front of the other designers. Kenley also said she thought Suede was a poser. At the same time Kenley is hard headed and she has difficulty accepting constructive criticism. This is going to come back to haunt Kenley. Mark my words.

The consensus of all the designers preceding the Project Runway college grad makeover challenge was that Suede would go be the designer going home this week. We shall see if the designers were right. Let’s get on to the runway.

Joe’s outfit was described as a total cliché. Korto’s outfit was called modern but professional. Suede made his client look 20 – 40 years older than she was and it was dated. Leanne’s client looked frumpy.

While the judges were critiquing the designers designs Kenley and her mini me were laughing on the runway once again.

Tonight’s winner was Jerell, the judges thought his design was brilliant. And the key point is that he did give his client a makeover that she loved and it literally transformed her from head to toe. Kudos to Jerell.

We had to say auf wiedersehen to Joe this week and ha ha Suede squeaked by once more. If Sanjaya of American Idol could do it so can Suede.

Jennifer Hudson is Engaged to David Otunga of I Love New York 2

That’s right its official Jennifer Hudson is engaged to David Otunga. Jennifer Hudson first stepped on the scene as an “American Idol” contestant. Starring most recently in the “Sex and the City” movie. Jennifer Hudson has made herself a household name starring in the movie “Dreamgirls” while picking up an Oscar for best supporting actress.

It has been reported that David Otunga proposed to Jennifer Hudson on her 27th birthday, Friday in Los Angeles.

It’s more interesting about whom Jennifer Hudson is engaged to rather than the fact that she’s engaged. What makes this engagement a little more newsworthy than others? It is because David Otunga is a reality TV star. You may remember David Otunga from “I love New York 2” fame. He was one of New York’s suitors she aptly named “Punk.”

Now that Jennifer Hudson’s and David Otunga’s engagement had been made public, I wonder if David Otunga regrets doing the reality show “I Love New York 2?”

Instead of being known as a Harvard Law School graduate from Chicago, IL. He will be widely known for falling in “reality love” with “New York” of” I Love New York fame.” This makes his taste questionable at best.

Jennifer Hudson’s self titled debut album is set to hit stores September 30th. She will also be appearing in the film, “The Secret Life of Bees,” which opens in theatres October 17th.
Everyone deserves their chance at happiness and I hope Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga have found theirs.

Jada Pinkett Smith Is Shining Now

That’s right it’s Jada Pinkett Smith’s turn to shine. To the everyday person it would seem that Will Smith and Jada coordinate their time in the spotlight.

Will Smith with his release of “Hancock” in the summer of 2008 and now Jada Pinkett Smith with her upcoming release of “The Women” opening in theatres this weekend. I can’t remember a time when Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith had films in theatres simultaneously.

Mrs. Smith will be very active in the fall of this year with the upcoming release of “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,” in theatres November 2008. With the success of its predecessor it’s expected to do very well in theatres.

I can remember when Jada played the fiery character of Lena James on “A Different World.” She has been married 11 years to the talented actor Will Smith and is the mother of three beautiful children. Jada Pinkett has grown, blossomed and become one half of the most powerful couples in Hollywood.

Jada Pinkett Smith has just finished directing her first movie, “The Human Contract.” She can now add director to her long list of credits.

Not only has Jada Smith expanded her wings into other genres such as music. She is the lead singer of hard rock/heavy metal group Wicked Wisdom . But she also is an astute business woman. Jada Pinkett Smith is a major investor in the black female-owned cosmetics business, Carol’s Daughter. And at the top of her list it’s obvious that family comes first.

So step aside Will Smith we can’t wait to see what Jada will do next.

HBO’s Vampire Tale True Blood Premieres

Last night was the premiere of HBO’s new vampire series True Blood. New Orleans is the setting of this vampire tale and its heroine is Sookie Stackhouse a waitress at Merlotte’s bar and Grill. Sookie is played by Oscar winning actress Anna Paquin of the Piano and X-Men fame.

But Sookie is not your typical waitress she has the ability to read people’s thoughts. And in this day and age vampires have come out of the closet so to speak. Vampires are living their lives in the open. With this new synthetic blood perfected by the Japanese there is no longer a need for vampires to feed on humans.

In the True Blood premiere a vampire walks into the bar and sits in Sookie’s station. Sookie is immediately drawn to him and that’s when the fun begins.

I thought last night’s episode of True Blood was quite comical. This new take on the vampire genre is unique and interesting. If you’re looking for your typical run of the mill vampire tale you will be pleasantly surprised with something that is totally different. The producers and writers have made a concentrated effort not to be a story built on vampire clichés.

Sookie your southern heroine is vibrant, inviting and full of wit. Bill the vampire is of course dark, mysterious and ominous. You also have a host of supporting characters and I do mean characters that definitely bring something to the table. The “flaming” cook Lafayette Reynolds is sure to bring you some laughs this season if you like raunchy humor. There are villainous characters in True Blood I’m sure you’re going to love to hate.

For some the sex scenes in True Blood will be too racy. But with the history of the vampire; sex has always been an intricate part of their lives. I myself personally didn’t need the scenes. I need the sex but not the sex scenes. I think the story carried itself without them.

All in all I think True Blood is one to watch and will keep you coming back for more. To view the first complete episode click here.

Project Runway’s Diane Von Furstenberg Challenge

Last night’s Project Runway winner was Leanne. She managed to beat out her competition two weeks in a row. Congratulations to Leanne! Her design was flawless and it captured everything Diane was looking for and more. There was not one criticism from this week’s Project Runway judges.

This week’s Project Runway challenge was to create a look for Diane Von Furstenberg’s fall collection. Needless to say working for a fashion icon like Diane Von Furstenberg will be one of the highlights this season. To take a look at Diane Von Furstenberg’s 2008 fall collection featured on last night’s Project Runway episode click here.

Okay let’s get back to Project Runway.

I wasn’t impressed with Jerell’s design last night. It looked very similar to the design he did for the Project Runway Saturn Vue Hybrid Challenge. Last week he made an outfit out of Saturn Vue auto parts. And this week he was privy to some of the best fabrics used in Diane Von Furstenberg’s fall line, so why didn’t we see a huge improvement? Riddle me that.

Let’s move on to Joe. What was he thinking? If you recall he thought this was one of his best designs and it was going to show who he really was as a designer. If that was the crème de la crème I felt he lost a lot of potential clients last night.

Right now Suede is in la la land. He needs to regroup, get focused and get it right. I can easily see his head on the chopping block soon.

I would like to give an honorable mention to Korto once again. If she’s not the Project Runway winner of the week she’s at least in the top three. I would love to see her line come down the runway at Bryant Park.

And this week we had to say good bye to my old girl Stella. What will I do without at least one leather based design on the runway every week? I will miss her she certainly added some New York flavor to the commentary. Did you hear her talk about Rachel Zoe and how Tim Gunn tried to cover it up? I thought that was amusing.

TNT’s Raising the Bar Premiere Falls Short

I was horribly disappointed in last night’s TNT series premiere of Raising the bar.

When you hear a name like Steven Bochco immediately you remember shows like Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law and NYPD Blue. These were top notch television series Emmy nominated and award winning with phenomenal writers and talented actors. These series have created some of the most memorable characters in television history.

Steven Bochco is to television like Steven Spielberg is to movies. So when you hear that Stephen Bochco is producing another series on TNT it instantly grabs your attention.

To my dismay TNT’s Raising the Bar didn’t live up to any of its predecessors. The commercial previews of Raising the Bar were more interesting that the show in its entirety.

I have enjoyed Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s performance in the hit series NYPD Blue and the same goes for Gloria Reuben’s performance in E.R. But in TNT’s Raising the Bar the performances fell flat, with subpar writing, bad direction and a poor supporting cast.

I wanted to like the show. I love a good courtroom drama. TNT’s Raising the Bar just wasn’t it.
Jane Kaczmarek’s character was unbelievable. I know they wanted her to be the “Queen Bee” of Raising the Bar but her character just came off as rather cartoonish.

Apparently, the writers wanted last night’s episode to be heart wrenching but they didn’t introduce the characters long enough for you to care about them.

I have to admit that some series premieres have fallen short but have improved over time. However, time is extremely valuable and unfortunately I won’t be giving TNT’s Raising the bar any more of mine.

Project Runway’s Saturn Vue Hybrid Challenge

I usually like to get my re-caps of Project Runway out either the night an episode airs or at least the very next day. However, due to some unfortunate circumstances I wasn’t able to. But I felt that this challenge was one of the key challenges that Project Runway has and definitely needed to be commented on.

In a brief recap of last week’s episode, Kenley said that she was going to miss Daniel because he was the closest person to her. But wasn’t she the one laughing at Daniel on the runway when he was going on and on about his very high level of taste?

This week’s challenge was to create an outfit using Saturn Vue Auto parts. Innovation was the prime ingredient for this week’s challenge. You could tell by the roll of Stella’s eyes that she was not impressed by this challenge.

My favorite quote of the week came from Jerell when he was referring to fellow designer Terri. He said, “She has two faces count them one, two. Two faces and four patterns don’t trust the bitch!”

Stella tried something outside of the box and it didn’t work for her. And Keith came off as a whiner on the runway.

The Project Runway judges were highly impressed with Korto’s design emphasizing that it was so sleek and elegant.

Jerell, Leanne, and Korto’s outfits were magnificent; they outdid themselves. It’s remarkable that the designs were used from materials of an automobile and these outfits were ready to wear.

This week’s winner was Leanne and they had to say Auf wiedersehen to Keith.
