A Season long Recap of Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show

I have to admit at first I wasn’t very interested in watching Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show. I felt it would be a cheap knock off of Project Runway. But because I like designers and watching their process I tried it anyway.

Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland are the hosts of The Fashion Show. I didn’t really have a problem with Isaac but Kelly rubbed me the wrong way sometimes. I just kept looking at her and saying why did they pick you? I’m not hating but once again I must ask why her?

Some of the designers on The Fashion Show were definitely out of their league. When Laura made that black dress and added the red at the bottom, I wondered what she was smoking. Poor Lidia I felt that she really wanted to be there and she quit her job to do so. However, her designs were horrific.

Johnny R. was so arrogant in the beginning always claiming that he really didn’t need to be there and that he had financial backers at home. When he finally realized that he did want to be on The Fashion Show he was caught plagiarizing another designers design. What a shameful way to be sent home and on national TV.

I loved Merlin he was my little fashion elf. Daniella is talented and has vision but she’s just someone you love to hate.

Reco had me cracking up all season he’s just one of those naturally funny people. Some of his designs were wonderful and I did expect him to make it all the way.

The Fashion Show’s final four were Reco, Anna, John Paul and Daniella. I felt these four deserved to be there. The surprising twist was that there was a final elimination and there would only be three designers left standing.

Even though I loved Reco throughout the season and he produced some wonderful designs. Except for a few pieces in his collection the rest fell flat. I was so disappointed. However, I do agree that it was a difficult decision for the judges especially based on past performances but they did come to the right conclusion.

So out of the three remaining designers I would say that Daniella has vision and youthfulness. Anna makes wonderful dresses for women and John Paul is a visionary.

This season on the Fashion Show America gets to decide the winner by voting. So if you had a favorite out of the final three I hope that you will give them your support. Project Runway Final Three Chosen Tonight

There were four designers left on Project Runway and we finally found out who the final three are. The Judges chose, Leanne, Kenly and Korto for the Project Runway season finale. Let’s find out how the Project Runway judges came to this decision.

Now, last week the judges couldn’t narrow it down to just three. So the remaining designers were given the opportunity to go home and create a collection with 10 looks.

On tonight’s Project Runway pre-finale the designers received one more challenge. The challenge was to create a wedding dress inspired by their collections and that reflects them as designers.

After the designers are home for at least a month or more Tim Gunn makes his first visit to Korto in Little Rock, Arkansas in which she plays the drums for him.

Tim visits Leanne in Portland, Oregon where the highlight of their visit was a bike ride. Out in Los Angeles Tim takes a look at Jerell’s collection and has many thoughts about it. Finally, he visits Kenly in Brooklyn, NY.

The designers return to New York for their last Project Runway catwalk. But there is one last twist in this Project Runway challenge. The designers must now design a bridesmaid dress to accompany their wedding dress. After that is completed they will present their wedding dress and bridesmaid dress to the Project Runway judges.

Here are some snippets of this week’s Project Runway judge’s comments. They felt Leanne’s dress was so sheik and beautifully crafted. It was modern, dreamy and romantic. Fantastic job.

Jerell’s design was garish and overwrought times 20,000. Nina felt the choice of the grey fabric for the bridesmaids dress looked dirty. Michael felt like the bride had a flower pot growing out of her head. The Project Runway judges agreed that Jerell went hog wild with the wedding dress and that he didn’t put any thought into bridesmaids dress.

Kenly’s wedding dress was very similar to Alexander McQueen’s dress. But it was done beautifully. Michael Kors said that her bridesmaids dress was the cutest damn bridesmaid dress he ever seen. Heidi said it was crazy-good.

Korto’s wedding dress was overworked whereas her bridesmaids dress was underworked. The Project Runway judges felt that it didn’t even look like it was a match for the wedding dress. To top it off Heidi said that if she were a bride she wouldn’t want to wear the dress.

Tonight’s text vote question was who shouldn’t go to Bryant Park. And Kenly was the winner by at least 50%. I thought that was ridiculous. Yes Kenly’s attitude needs work, but her designs this week definitely earned her a spot in the Project Runway final three.

In tonight’s Project Runway episode there wasn’t a clear cut winner just those who were moving on to Bryant Park. However, we had to say good bye to Jerell. And I wish him the best of luck.

There are no Losers on Project Runway tonight

There weren’t any losers on Project Runway tonight. Tonight’s challenge on Project Runway was to create an evening gown using inspiration from the Botanical Gardens. The remaining Project Runway designers were given a camera and allowed 1 hour to take photos and 30 minutes to pick out one photograph that inspired them the most.

Back at the Project Runway design room Kenly found out that she had left her tulle at Mood. A Tulle is a lightweight, very fine netting, which is often starched. Jerell and Korto had tulle’s that they weren’t going to use but because of Kenly’s attitude in the past they decided not to offer it to her.

We have all seen the way Kenly has behaved on Project Runway, but in the designers attempt to give her a taste of her own medicine I felt they were being just as ugly as she’s been.

Here are the judges take on the designs of the remaining Project Runway designers. Leanne’s dress was very pretty and soft and they were pleasantly surprised. However, the back of the dress had a piece of fabric that looked out of place. Korto’s gown was beautifully made but not sophisticated enough. It looked like a beauty pageant dress. In her effort to impress the Project Runway judges she went too far.

Jerell’s design was the most youthful looking, but it looked messy. The Project Runway judges felt he’s having a problem creating a polished finish. Kenly’s design looked scaly and creepy. Her design didn’t look young, hip or cool. It was cliché.

The final question Heidi had for the Project Runway designers was, “Why should they go to Bryant Park and who were the other two designers that should go with them?”

Jerell said it was his dream and Leanne said she would not give a boring show. Korto said that we would finally be able to see her culture in her designs and that she would wow us. Kenly felt that she took the most risks on Project Runway and that she would put on a show. As far as picking designers to go with them no one chose Kenly.

This week’s Project Runway winner was Jerell and the judges emphasized that it was by a very thin margin.

The judge’s final decision was that all the remaining designers Leanne, Korto, Jerell and Kenly would get to go home and complete a collection but only three will be able to compete at Bryant Park.

Project Runway College Grad Makeover Challenge

Coming off of last’s weeks Project Runway double elimination of Blayne and Terri things were a little tense at first.

This weeks Project Runway challenge was to do a makeover from head to toe of a recent college graduate transitioning into the workforce. The winning makeover and designer would appear in ELLE Magazine courtesy of Project Runway.

“Kenley can make one hell of a 50’s or 60’s dress, but that’s all she can serve up,” Jerell said, Which I have to totally agree with. Show us something different Kenley, please. I’m becoming bored with you as a designer. This is Project Runway girl start shining.

Tonight on Project Runway Kenley got very personal when she bashed Suede and his ability as a designer in the dorm room in front of the other designers. Kenley also said she thought Suede was a poser. At the same time Kenley is hard headed and she has difficulty accepting constructive criticism. This is going to come back to haunt Kenley. Mark my words.

The consensus of all the designers preceding the Project Runway college grad makeover challenge was that Suede would go be the designer going home this week. We shall see if the designers were right. Let’s get on to the runway.

Joe’s outfit was described as a total cliché. Korto’s outfit was called modern but professional. Suede made his client look 20 – 40 years older than she was and it was dated. Leanne’s client looked frumpy.

While the judges were critiquing the designers designs Kenley and her mini me were laughing on the runway once again.

Tonight’s winner was Jerell, the judges thought his design was brilliant. And the key point is that he did give his client a makeover that she loved and it literally transformed her from head to toe. Kudos to Jerell.

We had to say auf wiedersehen to Joe this week and ha ha Suede squeaked by once more. If Sanjaya of American Idol could do it so can Suede.

Project Runways Saturn Vue Hybrid Challenge

Project Runway Wednesday July 30th, 2008

This week’s episode of Project Runway started out with the designers getting a ride on City Sights NY one of New York’s tour buses.

The designers briefly toured New York from the viewpoint of hundreds of thousands of tourists that visit each year.

The challenge was to create a look for a night out on the town inspired by New York. The designers were given a camera and 1 hour to take pictures of places, people or things that inspired them.

The tour bus made four stops: Columbus Circle, Times Square, New York Public Library and Greenwich Village.

Stella if you haven’t figured out by now loves leather.

Tonight’s winning design on Project Runway was Kenley’s.

Heidi had to say Auf Wiedersehen to Emily.

Tim Gunn warned Emily about the direction her design was taking, but she didn’t heed his advice. But she defended her dress to the very end. End of the runway that is.

The top two designs for me this week were Terry’s and Leanne’s.
